Valuation Steps
Initial Brief
Confidential conversation covering the object description and apparent type (bronze, painting, antique, contemporary art); claimed attribution or tradition; apparent period; dimensions; known provenance; and purpose.
For Section 132 assignments, the engagement responds to the Authorised Officers’ timeline. Scope and fee are confirmed before the examination begins.
Engagement Letter
A written engagement letter establishes the scope of valuation, object category, authentication protocol required, AATA status assessment, statutory context, professional fee and turnaround.
Where scientific examination is necessary, scientific analysis coordination is confirmed as part of the agreed engagement scope.
Physical Examination
Physical examination of the object is conducted under standard, raking and UV light. The object is identified and classified by category, with significant authentication indicators recorded.
Photography of all significant features forms part of the examination record.
Authentication and AATA Research
Scientific analysis is coordinated where required, including TL, XRF, GCMS and AMS. Art historical research includes style analysis, catalogue raisonné cross-reference and provenance research.
Comparables and Value Conclusion
Auction database research draws on Saffronart, AstaGuru, Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Bonhams. Comparable works are qualified and adjusted for relevant differences in attribution, period, quality, condition and provenance.
Signed Certificate
The final certificate is prepared on A2Z Valuers letterhead and signed personally by Nitesh Shrivastava, Government Approved Valuer, with the applicable Section 34AB certificate and official stamp.
Accepted by the Income Tax Department, NCLT, the High Court, banks, and insurers.
